Module 1: The Biblical Basis of Mission

In this module, we explore how Scripture ignites our passion for mission and mandates the gospel to reach the ends of the earth, whilst examining key values that should guide our contextualised approach to cross-cultural ministry. Through teaching on the biblical narrative of missions, the priority of unreached peoples, the importance of the poor, and godly ambition in gospel proclamation, we will be equipped to plant churches and lead mission efforts that are both biblically grounded and culturally sensitive to the unique contexts where God has called us.

What is the biblical basis and priority of mission?

In this module we’ll look at how scripture itself ignites the flame for mission and gives a mandate for the gospel to reach the ends of the earth. Scripture does not give an exact blueprint of how cross-cultural mission is to take place. There will always be a need for the mission to be contextualised. However, in this module we highlight some key values to be prioritised and contextualised in cross-cultural mission.

This module includes teaching from Terry Virgo (on the big story of missions in the Bible and the importance of church planting), Simon Walker (on the priority of the gospel going to unreached peoples), Angela Kemm (on the priority of remembering the poor) and one of our pioneering friends (on the godly ambition of preaching where Christ is not yet known).
