The church is described in Scripture as the temple of the Holy Spirit, so we should expect when we meet together that God will be present in our midst and that this presence will not be merely theoretical but manifest and tangible.
One of the primary ways Scripture describes God as being manifest in the gatherings is through the gifts of the Spirit. This can be a topic that causes caution in some circles, particularly where the gifts have been used badly, but the New Testament approach to the gifts is not caution but eager desire! In Corinth there was all sorts of confusion and improper use of the gifts, but Paul’s response was not to back away from them but to teach the proper use!
In this 3 part sermon series we looks at what the gifts are, the key defining principle of how to use them, and the role they play in our gathered worship.
