For many people, the Bible can be a confusing book. It includes some well known stories, as well as other more obscure sections. Often these stories can be taught as stand-alone sermons or series, and whilst preachers do work hard to set them in context, this can be challenging to do, especially when speaking to those who are not familiar with the bigger story the Bible is telling.
This series is a ten week walk-through of the big story of the Bible, aimed to help orientate people in how God has worked at different points in history, and how all of this comes together to tell a consistent story that is centered on Jesus.
Because of the nature of the series, it would not work to preach these sermons in a stand-alone way. It is important to show the continuity of the story that is being told, both by emphasising how each section links to what has gone before it and by anticipating what is to come.
Many of the sermons look at big sections of Bible. but for each some key points are drawn out along with some specific verses to demonstrate the point being mad. Do try to read these passages as you preach, in order to ground the teaching in Scripture itself, as well as summarising the plot of the bigger sections.
