The Gospel of Matthew is one of the earliest official accounts of Jesus of Nazareth. The gospel account itself is anonymous, but most people believe that it was Jesus’ disciple Matthew who put pen to paper. Matthew was Jewish and had a deep understanding of the Torah, Law and Prophets. Matthew was keen to show readers how Jesus was the Messiah, the fulfilment of the prophets, the new Moses, God with us.
As part of this teaching we explore the Sermon on the Mount – the most important teachings of Jesus all in one place. A challenging and subversive sermon announcing a whole new way to be human in the kingdom of God.
Join us on this preaching series exploring Matthew’s biography of Jesus, a story we think we already know, but you’ll soon discover there’s more under the surface than we could ever imagine.
