When Jesus began his public ministry he had a radical new message: the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Throughout his teaching, Jesus constantly returned to the theme of the kingdom (usually referred to as ‘the kingdom of heaven’ in Matthew and ‘the kingdom of God’ in Mark and Luke). At its simplest, the kingdom can be defined as the reign and rule of God. It is something that is here now, having been brought through the life, death and resurrection of Christ. It also something that is ‘not yet’, as we know the kingdom will come in its fulness when Jesus returns.
This is a twelve part preaching series that delves into what the kingdom is like and what it means to live as part of the kingdom, by looking at what Jesus taught about the kingdom in Matthew’s gospel.
