Ministry of Reconciliation (II Corinthians 6:1)
In Modern Greek: Συνεργασια = collaboration. E.g. students
collaborating on a school project, or Greek Prime Minister
Mitsotakis speaks of synergasia between Greece and the EU.
2Co 6:1 Working together with him, then, we appeal to
you not to receive the grace of God in vain.
The context (2 Cor 5:18-6:1) is about the ministry of
reconciliation.
The gospel is the good news of reconciliation between people
and God, and reconciliation between people.
In him all human differences, hostility and barriers are
resolved. Jesus Christ has a cure for the evils of racism,
tribalism and divided humanity. Yusufu Turaki.
God makes his appeal through us.
Where Mark 16:20 was we step out and then God works with
us, this verse demonstrates that God gives his grace to people,
and then we appeal to them – don’t receive the grace of God in
vain.
We appeal to you (appeal – emotional, relational –horizontal
word/not lording it over you, not a hierarchical word)
Don’t receive the grace of God in vain/ without purpose (our
appeal to you is about what God has done in you).
