The Church and God’s Purposes

Building on the big picture from session one, this session asks a more focused question: why build church at all? Why not just evangelise individuals? There are practical answers to that question, but here we go deeper and ask what the New Testament itself says. Working through seven images the NT uses for the church (the Trinity, the Bride, the One New Humanity, the Temple, the Body, the Flock, and the Royal Priesthood) we discover that the corporate people of God is at the centre of God’s purpose in the world.
