The Pioneering Ministry of Jesus

With the theological foundation starting to become established, this session gets concrete by looking at what church planting actually looked like in the ministry of Jesus. In Mark 1, Jesus built something remarkable in Capernaum: the kind of church we’d all want to be part of. And then he left it. This session traces what Jesus did next and why, following his pioneering pattern from Capernaum to the nearby villages, through the sending of the Twelve and the Seventy-Two, to the Great Commission. What we find is that the impulse to go to was at the heart of who Jesus was and why he came.
