Multiplanting
A vision for growing churches, leaders and mission, born from twenty-five years of planting interconnected congregations across Manchester.
Get the book →In the early nineties, God stirred Colin Baron with a dream of planting not just one but twenty churches in and around Manchester, a network that could reach into every part of the city. Whilst many church leaders assume the most effective path to kingdom impact is building a large church, Colin started to wonder whether that big-church dream might actually be limiting us.
Could the pursuit of the large church actually be inhibiting the quantity and quality of impact we long for?
Over twenty-five years of ministry in Manchester, he has been pioneering a different approach: planting smaller, interconnected congregations throughout the city that operate together as one church. Strong enough together for each to survive and thrive yet small and dispersed enough to have a reach that a single large church could never achieve.
We call this approach multiplanting. This book tells the story of that journey.
“Colin’s unique blend of visionary yet practical approach, his ability to raise up leaders, his wisdom to fix broken or stuck people or situations and the way he lays out the path through to where we need to go will profoundly impact you as you read this book.”
“Colin has thirty years experience in planting churches in post-Christian Britain. His experience shows as he tackles the challenge of planting multiple congregations to reach a city. This is a book for church planters and church leaders who want to reach their city through planting multiple churches.”
“We need many more new churches and community based sites to be planted to reach this nation and other nations with the gospel. I therefore enthusiastically commend Multiplanting to you.”
“The harvest is plentiful and the workers are few. This excellent book encourages us to pray hard, pursue the presence of God and pioneer the planting of multiple sites that effectively reach their local communities.”
