ABOUT
Welcome to Broadcast
Broadcast is a conversation partner for those on the front lines of ministry doing the hard, unglamorous work of planting churches, leading teams and taking the gospel to unreached people. We make resources that are honest, practical and rooted in Scripture, and we make them accessible to you right from your living room.
Broadcast exists to multiply God’s mission, by coming alongside those on the front line of ministry and engaging the kinds of questions leaders are actually wrestling with day to day. We create thoughtful, biblically grounded resources in accessible formats to help you navigate the opportunities and challenges of leadership and mission today.
Back in 2013, Colin Baron, Tom O’Toole and a few of the team at Christ Church Manchester noticed a couple of things.
Firstly, we had lots of friends who were involved in church planting and pioneering. Because many of these friends had gone to place that were not well reached, they were quite far removed from lots of the training that was around. In addition, the need to work bi-vocationally whilst ministering made it even more difficult to access the training that was out there.
The second thing we noticed was some of the emerging technology of the time. Video hangouts were just starting to become a thing, and we realised that we could use this technology to help serve our friends on the front line.
That year we set up a series of hangouts, invited some knowledgable and experienced leaders to teach on them, and filled those hangouts with pioneers and planters to learn together and ask questions. We wanted to bring top class teaching right to where people were in ways that were easy to be a part of.
Since then, Broadcast has grown and evolved. We built a catalogue of our hangouts, and over time added a podcast, articles and courses to allow people to learn at their own pace. In it all we kept our heart to serve those on the frontlines, and to engage the conversations people are already having.
Today Broadcast serves leaders across the UK and beyond: church planters, pastors, site leaders, missionaries, community group leaders and others who need practical help for the work they’re doing. Alongside our own content, we’ve partnered with organisations like Unreached Network and Sputnik, and with teachers like David Devenish, to bring even more great voices to the conversation.

Tom O’Toole has led Broadcast since 2013, creating content, hosting the podcast and overseeing the training streams. He moved to Manchester in 2011, drawn by a sense of calling to be part of church planting in the city, and has been based there ever since. Alongside his work with Broadcast, Tom serves as an elder and Teaching Pastor at Christ Church Manchester and heads up the Manchester School of Theology.
